Dubai Future Forum 2024: A Vision of Tomorrow, from Brain Chips to Climate Solutions

At the Dubai Future Forum this week, scientists from more than 100 countries gathered to discuss the challenges of a rapidly changing world shaped by technological innovation and artificial intelligence. They predicted revolutionary changes that will transform the way people live, businesses are run, and the universe is explored.

Modernizing the Innovation Process

Creating a modern framework for innovation is essential to drive technological advancement while maintaining safety standards. Regulatory labs and sandbox systems provide a platform for policymakers, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders to work together and develop effective solutions, as stated by Dubai Future Foundation CEO, Khalfan Belhoul.

Over the next five years, the technology supercycle is expected to bring significant changes to sectors and societies worldwide. Three transformative technologies – Artificial Intelligence (AI), biotechnology, and advanced sensors – will reshape the world and change corporate roles. Healthcare will become increasingly personalized, with the potential to create digital twins of individual bodies and enable treatments tailored to specific conditions. Additionally, there is a possibility that a Fortune 500 company could be led by an AI executive for the first time in history.

Exploring nature for increased energy security

It is projected that the global solar energy capacity will double from 220 gigawatts in 2024 to 450 gigawatts in 2025, surpassing the total installed power capacity of Germany and Spain combined. Embracing nature-based solutions will be integral to comprehensive climate strategies and will aid in mitigating climate-related losses.
